Greenville Fashion Week is celebrated its eighth year, but my story with Greenville Fashion Week began in 2024.
Josue joined the team as a hairstylist, and I came aboard as a volunteer. Knowing me, I immediately launched into action. I’ve never been especially good at standing still when I see an opportunity to help. I love building things, solving problems, improving systems, and helping people bring their visions to life.
The rest, as they say, is history.
When people think of fashion week, they picture models, photographers, lights, music, and incredible clothing. They see the runway. What they don’t always see are the countless hours, the relationships, the creativity, and the extraordinary people who make the experience possible.
That’s the real magic.
Greenville Fashion Week has been an incredible experience, but I also believe that even amazing things can continue to grow. One of the reasons the event has been so successful is that it has attracted people who are willing to work hard, think creatively, and support a shared vision. Visionaries need people around them who can move decisively, solve problems, and keep things moving forward. That’s where I naturally found my place.
As the founder of Truly-Wed, event design is already woven into everything I do. Whether I’m creating floral installations, designing tablescapes, coordinating vendors, or producing celebrations, I’m always looking for ways to leave my fingerprints on an experience and make it more memorable.
This year’s theme, La Dolce Vita, offered endless opportunities to do exactly that.
Of course, some of my favorite moments had nothing to do with flowers or décor.
Watching Sara win Top Model was one of them.
I had the opportunity to meet all of the models, but she stood apart because of her character. She was kind. She was empathetic. She was always willing to help, even when no one was paying attention. I remember seeing her picking up literal trash simply because it needed to be done. She told me she hadn’t won the previous year and that she wanted to spend the next year learning, growing, and improving.
I was completely blown away.
Then there was Devin, one of the emerging designers. While awards are wonderful, they don’t always tell the entire story. Her talent is undeniable, but what struck me most was her energy. Some people simply carry light with them wherever they go, and she’s one of those people.
Another unforgettable part of the experience was watching my son, Xander, contribute in his own way. At Truly-Wed, he serves as our logistics manager, and he has an incredible ability to step in precisely when he’s needed most. At one point, we needed blue hydrangeas. I couldn’t find them anywhere. Somehow, he appeared with exactly what we needed.
That’s just who he is.

My connection to Greenville Fashion Week has also deepened through my work with All Things Greenville, where I’ve served as event director since 2020. Every event is an opportunity to celebrate our community, and every event reminds me how fortunate we are to live in a place that values creativity, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and connection.
If there’s one thing Greenville does exceptionally well, it’s bringing people together. We are known for our hospitality, our generosity, and, perhaps most importantly, our food. One day, I’d love to see us continue blending our culinary culture with our growing fashion community in even bigger ways.
And, because no story would be complete without a little embarrassment, I should probably mention the moment everyone caught me backstage jumping up and down after the Top Model announcement. Apparently, I was celebrating so enthusiastically that I became part of the show myself.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Greenville Fashion Week isn’t just about fashion. It’s about community. It’s about seeing potential in people and helping them discover it for themselves. It’s about collaboration, creativity, and the courage to create something beautiful.
For me, the journey from Greenville Fashion Week to Truly-Wed to All Things Greenville has never really been about events at all.
It’s always been about people.
And that’s always worth celebrating.
